Rap it up, it’s over!

There always have been shows or movies that have had a completely unsatisfying end. For example, I hated how at the end of Spirited Away, from Studio Ghibli, the movie seems to wrap itself up very quickly. I felt like the ending wasn’t faithful to the whole tempo of the movie itself. Spirited Away has a slow moving past and unravels itself very smoothly but the end just kind of… ended. As if they ran out of time and decided to cut out some parts. Not to say it’s a bad movie, actually it is one of my personal fav from Studio Ghibli, but i feel like the end could had been worked a little more.

Overall, this kind of ending frustrates me. I wasn’t surprised at all when the anime Soul Eater offered me the same kind of ending. So very disappointed. When I realized that there were only 51 episodes and that i was at episode 51 all i could think of was, “How are they possibly going to be able to offer me a nice conclusion of all the sub and main stories from this anime in only 30minutes? All this while still giving a mind-blowing final battle?” Well, i believe they failed at the task, or at least, partially. Since there was so much going on, example, new characters, Maka’s quest to create a death scythes, Black Star wanting to surpass gods, Death the Kid and his own experimentation with weapons, unfinished duels and much more, they could easily have created a third season and even a fourth season. Adding new battle and quests on the way. This would have given them a chance to better develop there characters and give the story a well deserve conclusion. Instead, they just jam-packed everything into images at the end of the 51st episodes’ ending.I have to say though, I have not read the manga and therefor I don’t know how it ended and if they weren’t just being faithful written series. Even then, I feel it would need some correction.

Overall, this wasn’t a bad series, actually i still like it and recommend it to most people i know, but i just finished the series and boy am i ever disappoointed. So unsatisfying

I also recommend you watch the theme song from the first season. This is what initially got me hooked to the show and it is insane! I love how it goes so fast and the imagery is very strong for anime standards. One of the best anime opening i’ve seen so far. I have never skipped through this opening until season two came along. The first one was so good they just couldn’t do better.

p.s. I’m I the only one who thinks Soul’s character design was much better in season one than in season two? He just looks so bland compared to all the other characters in the second season.

In the “fashion world” there are only two main sizes, the double zero and the 40+. Only extremes seem to make it onto the runways and in our magazine advertisement. Unless you are Sophie Dahl, you girls who are anything between these two sizes, might as well forget any career as a model (there are more than just Sophie Dahl, I know, but they are still very rare.)

Maybe we can also expect some kind of big surprise from the fashion world (which is unlikely) like a sudden appearance of normal or more standard size women. I love plus size fashion but it wasn’t always welcome either. It’s been around for a while but some designers just couldn’t rap their mind around the idea. Even today, designers like Christian Louboutin have said that Barbie’s ankle too fat and Karl Lagerfeld had recently stated that fashion is for size 7 and under.

Thankfully, we all know this is a lie. At least I hope you all realize it’s a ridiculous statement. As a designer the clothes created should fit a person. A person shouldnt have to fit the clothes, especially when the clothing is made ridiculously small. If you can’t make your clothes look good on anybody who is over a size 7 you are clearly failing at the task of designing. A statement like the one from Karl Lagerfeld would deserve him a severe look from a great designer like Coco Chanel. She made her clothes for all women.

Any who, this is also a reason why his statement was most likely said in the heat of the moment.

These are from a recent photo shoot which was supervised by Lagerfeld. I am slightly mad at this, not because it’s a plus size model, but the fact that it come from this same Karl who said fashion was only for a size seven and under. It’s a pretty hypocritical move on his part but still very smart. It’s a nice move for his image and commercialization. Since fashion is mostly just marketing, this was a good idea. So Lagerfeld might be an a*hole but he sure isn’t shtupid.

On the other hand, he’s kind of late. Like I mentioned before, many designer have used plus size models on their runways and photo shoots so there’s nothing really avant-garde about this set.

I enjoy the photo shoot though. The kinda fancy trashy look of the model nicely contrast Chanel’s more traditional outfit.

Now, Pixar is by far one of my favorite animated studio’s ever. Ghibli studio fallow close behind but, when it comes to quality animation, americans kick ass.

the new relase, “Up” was beautifully charming. The idea was fresh. the best though remained the short animation that came before. It was simply awesome. You just can not die without seeing this it is a sin.

Also, check this one out because it also made me laugh a lot! Because everybody knows, penguins CAN fly.

Versace in ‘Fantasy Land’

I found not so long ago, Versace’s new spring/summer 2010 which was presented at Milan Fashion Week.

You have to admit that these shoes look amazing. I love the way he incorporated bright colours (which i’m not usually to fond off), geometric figures and baroque patterns. It’s a nice fresh look and will appeal to most people except maybe my mom.

The one aspect I particularly like is the floating sole. For those who hadn’t notice, between the platform and the actually shoe there is an empty space. Yeah, well that is what makes this collection so nice.

It was also said that the main inspiration for the shoes was Tim Burton’s new adaptation of Alice in wonderland. I guess that explains alot, The new mixed with the old, sounds alot like what Tim Burton is doing for this movie. The shoes are suppose to represent this ‘Fantasy Land’.
